Paladins Developer & Community Update: Moving into 2021

Posted: 20 Aug 2020 07:05 AM PDT

Season 3 of Paladins launched at the beginning of this year, and since then, we've seen not only unique new Champions, but some of our most exciting Battle Pass content to date. As we enter the final months of this Season, we'd like to take some time to update you on what's coming up for Paladins going into 2021 and answer some of your frequently asked questions.

A few months into Season 3 the team shifted to a longer development cycle, updating Paladins every 3 months instead of 2. At the time the team was transitioning to working remotely due to everything happening with COVID-19, and we decided to make this change to account for the added challenges that come with updating and maintaining a live game while working from home. Keeping the Evil Mojo team safe while continuing to bring you great, high-quality content is our top priority, and the extra time between updates ensures that we can continue to deliver.

This change in our dev cycle impacted our entire content schedule, and affects the timing for the release of our 4th planned Champion for this year. With our update cadence slowing down this year, our final Champion for Season 3, initially planned for a 2020 launch, will now be releasing in early 2021.

We know this directly impacts players that invested in the Season Pass 2019-2020, and are making sure that everyone who purchased this pass is compensated for this schedule change. Players that own the Season Pass 2019-2020 will be granted 200 Crystals at a later date. Be sure to keep an eye on official Paladins social media channels for updates on when this will roll out to players.

Starting in 2021, we plan to start separating Champion releases from Battle Pass releases, so that you'll receive a new Paladins update every 6 weeks.

Here's a look at our roadmap for the rest of 2020 and early 2021.

We'd also like to take a moment to answer some of the most frequently asked questions we see from players on social media and give some updates on some current hot topics in the community.

Q: What is going to happen to Mixer Points?

A: As many of you know, the Mixer service is no longer available(as of July 22, 2020). Currently we're looking at potentially bringing the Viewer Point system to other platforms like Twitch, but we don't have a clear timeline for implementation since these systems usually take quite some time to build. In the meantime, there are still ways for you to earn free skins via the Paladins Bounty Store! So make sure your accounts are linked correctly to start earning and collecting bounties today. We'll be sure to update our community if we make any further progress on a new Viewer Points system being integrated into our live streams.

Q: Players are still experiencing lag, what is the plan for this?

A: The community team has created an all new form to report when you experience lag. This form is located at https://paladins.com/matchid - with this you can submit any instances where you experience lag and these reports will be forwarded directly to the server maintenance team.

Q: Will we ever get events like Rise of Furia back?

A: Currently there are no plans to bring back old events or create new ones in 2020. However, the dev team is looking into possibilities to give players different gameplay experiences in 2021

Q: Are you still fixing bugs?

A: Yes! The QA team is still working daily to find ways to reproduce the bugs you send us online. The Hunt initiative still hasn't stopped, and it won't stop as we continue work to make the best version of Paladins that we can. Remember you can always submit bugs at https://paladins.com/bugs or on the Official Discord Server[discord.gg].

Everyone here at Evil Mojo appreciates your love and support for Paladins so much, and we can't wait for you to see everything we have in store for you.
