Path of Exile - An Update From Bex

An Update From Bex

Posted: 31 Jul 2019 04:22 PM PDT

As many of you may have seen, I recently made a big announcement on Twitter. Naturally, I will be taking some time off to be with my family and I wanted to make sure I keep the Path of Exile community in the loop as to what to expect from us for the next while.

I expect to take six months of parental leave, but may be able to return earlier. I suspect it's likely that I will be periodically checking in behind the scenes to make sure things are running smoothly.

As we mentioned earlier this week[www.pathofexile.com], we're expecting to post our 3.8.0 announcement around August 20th. While I might not be taunting the community from my Twitter or clouding our subreddit with silly gifs, you'll still receive all the normal announcements and teasers you would expect around an expansion launch.

Natalia, one of our other Community Managers, may already be familiar to you as the person who frequently writes and posts Path of Exile news. She does a tonne behind the scenes and I feel very confident with her scheduling news and teasers in my absence. She will also be working with Chris and the rest of the community team to ensure that significant community concerns that may arise are heard and addressed.

Hartlin, one of our game designers and producers, frequently posts on the subreddit and will also be keeping an eye out for community issues for the team to address. You may see him posting to address hot topics and server RIPs, etc.

As always, Chris will be overseeing everything and ready to guide the team in any decisions that need to be made. As you know, he's also notorious for causing mass hysteria so I trust you'll be in good hands.

Unfortunately, taking leave also means that I'm unlikely to be able to attend ExileCon. This is going to be super weird! I was very much looking forward to meeting everyone there and I'm so sorry that I most likely won't be able to make it. I've heard the team's plans for the convention weekend and it sounds like you'll have so much to think about that you won't even notice I'm not there!

Thank you so much to everyone who shared their well wishes and support to my initial announcement. I was extremely blown away with how many caring messages I received. It's going to be really strange to be away from the community and I will definitely miss being part of everything here for a little bit but I will be back! Side note - if you think you might need something from me over the next few months, particularly if you're a streamer, please get in touch ASAP!

Path of Exile - What We're Working On

What We're Working On

Posted: 29 Jul 2019 05:47 PM PDT

We're over half way through the Legion league and we're incredibly happy with how much the community have been enjoying it. As you continue to complete your personal league goals, we wanted to give you a heads up about our upcoming timelines.

As we mentioned, on August 17th PDT, we'll be hosting the last of our ExileCon Race Event Qualifiers! This race will dictate who our fourth and final challenger will be in the ultimate showdown at ExileCon later this year.

Around August 20th PDT, we're planning to announce our 3.8.0 expansion! The broad scope of this release is a new challenge league (whose name is not on the list, but should be), various improvements to older master content (things like making Sulphite and Betrayal state shared between all your characters in the league), some systems changes we're not yet ready to hint at (which should improve some areas that the community have given us vocal feedback on (not trade)) and all the usual new items, archetypes, gems and so on that you expect from a Path of Exile expansion.

We expect the Legion league to end on PC at 3pm September 2nd PDT. For console players, the league will end when 3.8.0 goes live.

Our tentative release date for the new expansion is September 6th PDT. Keep in mind all these dates may change as we get closer to release but things are looking good so far. We will keep you posted as these dates approach to let you know if anything changes.

Path of Exile - The Grinding Gear Games ExileCon Qualifier Event

The Grinding Gear Games ExileCon Qualifier Event

Posted: 28 Jul 2019 05:58 PM PDT

Over the weekend, we ran the third of our ExileCon qualifier events where players competed to be the first to kill Atziri. Congratulations to the winners of this event! We look forward to seeing you at the ExileCon finale in New Zealand!

We're pleased to announce the fourth and final qualifier event for the ExileCon race finale. On August 17th at 2 PM (PDT) we'll be hosting a race event with a VIP ExileCon package as the grand prize. This means the winner will be flown to New Zealand, invited to the VIP dinner, have their accommodation and convention tickets paid for as well as participate against the other three finalists in the ExileCon race finale.

Players will compete in a Standard Solo-Self Found environment to be the first to kill Kitava in Act Five. There will be a death penalty - if you die, you'll not be able to move or do anything with your character for 60 seconds. This penalty was added because we want to create the feeling of a hardcore event (where deaths basically eliminate you from contention for first place), while not running the risk of accidentally eliminating most of the finalists if they are unlucky at the final event. 60 seconds is a large penalty, so play as carefully as you need to in order to avoid dying!

The event will open for four hours although it's likely that first place will be taken within two hours.

The event is open to all who would like to participate and takes place in a separate event league so that there are no limits to the number of participants who may join. You'll be able to join the event under the character selection screen when it becomes available.

Prizes
1st Place
  • VIP ExileCon Ticket (Access to the convention and VIP dinner).
  • Flights to New Zealand.
  • Accommodation for the convention weekend.
  • Entrance into the ExileCon race event finale.
In addition, the top five kill times will be awarded with a microtransaction package. We'll announce the contents of this package later.

As per other community events, we'll have shoutcasters and a place where you can view the event! More information will be published in the coming weeks, so keep an eye on the news!

Rainbow 6 - TOP ISSUES AND COMMUNITY CONCERNS

TOP ISSUES AND COMMUNITY CONCERNS

TOP ISSUES AND COMMUNITY CONCERNS
Updated: 22 July 2019

We will be updating the following list regularly to outline the status of certain issues that are currently pressing for our community. Please note that this list is not exhaustive, and should only be used as a reference to give a general idea of where our focus currently is.

TOP ISSUES
SOUND BUGS
Description: Muffled, missing sounds + various sound issues.
Status: We have identified a bug that allows sound to travel more easily that intended through solid objects/walls. We are also continuing to go through videos that are sent to us to identify standalone sound/audio issues.

CONNECTIVITY
Description: Players are losing control on their Operator and then being disconnected and presented with an error message.
Status: We have dedicated a team specifically to these connectivity topics, and have identified a couple of issues that are sometimes interpreted as a "Denial of Service" attacks. These issues are a priority for us.

RANK DISPARITY IN RANKED MATCHMAKING
Description: Players are able to take advantage of the Matchmaking algorithm to play against lower skilled opponents.
Status: [Target: During Y4S3] Currently in progress. We have detailed the approximate values that we want to restrict parties to, and are working on the implementation.

TOXICITY REPORTING
Description: We currently offer a single option for reporting toxicity.
Status: [Target: During Y4S3] We have finalized the design and process for handling additional reporting options. The UI/UX is in progress.

TOP GAMEPLAY TOPICS
SMOKE GAS CANISTER PROPAGATION
Description: Gas from Smoke's Gas Grenades clips through walls.
Objective: Our goal is to rework the propagation so it is similar to the new Capitao fire bolt, and use this as an opportunity to revisit the visual.
Status: [Target: During Y4S3] We have encountered an issue and will be pushing this change to Season 3 to ensure that it is released in a more comfortable state.

WEAPON SIGHT ALIGNMENT
Description: Weapon optics are a few pixels off center in some situations.
Objective: We want to implement a system to prevent most misalignment issues in the future. At the same time, we are improving the look of the guns in ADS by adding secondary motion, which is now possible due to the tech that keeps the scopes aligned with the reticule.
Status: [Target: During Y4S3] Feedback is currently being gathered in internal play sessions.

SHOTGUN WALL DESTRUCTION IS UNRELIABLE
Description: Shotguns are inconsistent when being used to destroy wooden beams.
Objective: We want to ensure that the destruction of wooden beams is reliable, for both player comfort and ensuring we do not force players to spend extra time attempting to destroy wooden beams.
Status: [Target: Y4S3] We have it implemented and turned off while we address remaining bugs. Once those are fixed, we will turn it on.

OPERATOR/GADGET KILL SWITCH
Description: Operators that are disruptive due to exploits being removed from play.
Objective: When an Operator or Gadget is disabled, provide players with feedback on what/why.
Status: [Target: During Y4S3] We have a bit of programming work left, and some UI work as well.

DEBRIS STUCK IN WINDOW/DOOR BARRICADES
Description: Debris sometimes remains stuck in the barricades on doors and windows, causing players to have different sight lines.
Objective: Provide consistency for all players for barricade destruction.
Status: [Target: Potentially Y5S1] We are currently in the design phase to determine how we want to approach this topic. We are exploring and prototyping different options.

TOP BALANCING TOPICS
MAP POOL
Description: We have too many maps available in the Ranked map pool.
Status: [Target: Y4S3] We are in the process of reassessing the number of maps present in the Ranked map rotation. Additionally, we are determining which maps to include in this reduced map pool.

OPERATOR BANS
Description: We have seen a high ban rate for Blitz, Jackal, Echo, and Caveira in Ranked.
Status: We are discussing how we want to approach topic of balancing around Pick/Ban in Ranked, and the Operators that are affected the most by it.

SMOKE
Description: Adjustments to the damage curve for Smoke's Gas Canister will move Smoke further towards an area denial role.
Status: [On Hold] We are satisfied overall with how this is developing, but but need to put it on hold until other dependencies are delivered.

Rocket League Fall 2019 Roadmap

Posted: 23 Jul 2019 10:01 AM PDT

These summer months have been by far the most radical[www.rocketleague.com] Rocket League has ever seen. We hope you've been enjoying Radical Summer and everything it's brought to the game, from the three different Event Stores to the Ecto-1[www.rocketleague.com] and Knight Rider Car Packs[www.rocketleague.com]. Millions of matches were played in the limited-time mode Playlists, and the plays you pulled off on the pitch were incredible. Thanks for sharing your clips!

Radical Summer is in its third and final phase before the redemption period begins on August 12, so it's a good time to look forward to the rest of 2019. There's plenty to discuss that we're excited about including the remainder of Rocket Pass 3, Rocket Pass 4, and more!

ROCKET PASS 3 IS EXTENDING, AND A GLIMPSE AT ROCKET PASS 4
We heard you. The gap between Rocket Pass 2 and Rocket Pass 3 was too long. So, we're extending Rocket Pass 3 to the beginning of Rocket Pass 4. Rocket Pass 3 will be live until August 27, however no new Weekly Challenges will be added. The next Rocket Pass will begin on August 28.

The next Rocket Pass will slightly change the Weekly Challenge System. Weekly Challenges will stay active throughout its duration. This means that you'll be able to complete Challenges from previous weeks throughout Rocket Pass 4.

We're looking forward to revealing all the rugged items in August. If you're looking for a sneak peek at the featured Battle-Car, take a closer look at the Radical Summer trailer ...

COMPETITIVE SEASON 11 ENDING AUGUST 27
There's only a month left in Competitive Season 11. As stated above, Competitive Season 11 will end on August 27 and Season 12 will begin on the same day following a title update. We'll reveal the next Season Rewards as we get closer to the end of the season.

Like previous Competitive Seasons, there will be unique rewards for Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, Champion, and Grand Champion ranks. Plus, unique Extra Mode Grand Champion titles are returning from previous seasons.

Be sure to keep grinding those ranks over the next month. You have to complete your placement matches in a Competitive Playlist and fulfill the appropriate Season Reward Level in order to earn your rewards for Competitive Season 11.

AUDIO CHANGES INCOMING!
Listen up! As we heard the reception to our audio changes from the previous update, we are making additional changes in the next one. High Dynamic Range Audio will be ready to rock and roll as a part of the next game update on August 27, which we hope will be music to your ears! Stay tuned for an in-depth look at the new sound of Rocket League in the next couple weeks.

ON THE HORIZON
  • New Stats
  • Two new stats are being added to all game modes: "High Five" and "Low Five." Pull off a High Five by hitting your teammate in midair after scoring. Low Five is the same thing, but on field level. Plus, Hoops is getting its own new stat called "Swish." As the name suggests, Swish is achieved by scoring without the ball touching the rim.
  • Return of Haunted Hallows
  • We're in the planning stages of our third installment of Haunted Hallows, which is coming this fall. We know that following Radical Summer is a tough act to follow, but we're cooking up some wicked new content!
  • New and improved tournaments
  • One of the goals in 2019 is to revamp Rocket League's Tournament system. Think of it as Tournaments 2.0. This would include having automated, scheduled tournaments in-game that players could join. Look out for more info on the revamped Tournaments system later this year.
  • Regarding the last Roadmap
  • Content that was discussed in May's Roadmap including the Party-Up System, Inventory Management, and quality-of-life improvements to the player-to-player trading system are still in development. The goal is to roll out this functionality later in 2019.

3.7.4 Patch Notes

Posted: 23 Jul 2019 05:15 PM PDT

As we announced earlier, this week we'll deploy the 3.7.4 update that includes the stackable Fossils feature, various improvements and bug fixes. Today we've prepared a preview of its patch notes for you to check out.

Please note that these patch notes may not be final and are still subject to change before the patch.

Features
  • Common Delve Fossils can now be stacked up to 20. Rare Delve Fossils can now be stacked up to 10. All Delve Fossils can be stacked up to 5,000 in the wildcard slots of a Currency Stash Tab.
  • The amount of Rage that you have is now displayed as a numerical value above your Mana Globe.
  • Exclamation marks above NPCs can now also be seen on the minimap.
Bug Fixes
  • Fixed a bug introduced in patch 3.7.0 where the "+x% to Fire Resistance while on Low Life" modifier found on Rise of the Phoenix was not working.
  • Fixed a bug where Cyclone and Righteous Fire's area of effect was visibly scaling with Character Size. This has no functional effect on its area of effect.
  • Fixed a bug where the visual indicators in the Vaal Oversoul encounters did not always match where damage would be dealt.
  • Fixed a bug where, if two Legion Historic Jewels were altering a Keystone passive and one of them would result in the Keystone being Dance with Death, while the other jewel was actually the one altering the Keystone (to something other than Dance with Death), you would be unable to equip a helmet.
  • Fixed a bug where Shaper dialogue would play when a Shaper Guardian fragment dropped from Legion sources.
  • Fixed a bug where channelled skills could sometimes fail to deal damage while on Predictive networking mode.
  • Fixed a bug where using a skill that shared a cooldown with other skills (such as Molten Shell and Steelskin) then quickly disabling that skill (such as by reducing your attributes) would cause the cooldown to pause until you re-enabled the skill that was used.
Crash Fixes
  • Fixed a client crash that could occur during the Elder encounter.
  • Fixed three instance crashes.
