ARK: Survival Evolved - Community Crunch 278: Introducing Dinopithecus, Beginner Server Wipe, and More!

Community Crunch 278: Introducing Dinopithecus, Beginner Server Wipe, and More!

Posted: 30 Jul 2021 06:57 PM PDT

Final voting for the second creature to be added to Lost Island has concluded.  A few weeks ago, we created a forum where you could submit your ideas for creatures that will be added to Lost Island. From there, we narrowed it down to the top 10 up-voted submissions.  Over 15,000 votes were submitted for the next Lost Island creature and only 1% difference separating the Dinopithecus and the Carcharodontosaurus! Talk about a close finish 😅

With one unannounced creature coming to Lost Island, what do you think it could be?

I believe Dinopithecus has been changed by ARK life. This species is definitely larger than any I remember from the fossil record. And these oversized baboons show a more pack-oriented behavior than I would've expected in their kind. Whole troops will organize around an alpha, and fall apart if that alpha is slain.

Though they seem to prefer a diet of fruit supplemented with the occasional bit of meat, Dinopitheci are opportunistic and will eat just about anything. They're also excellent climbers -- I've seen them scramble up sheer cliff faces and leap between trees to scavenge food for their troop.

Dinopitheci will bare sharp teeth and toss well-aimed handfuls of their own excrement when provoked. Their feces is what really sets this species apart -- they've managed to weaponize a parasite in it that disables TEK! I feel like that parasite deserves its own dossier.

If you can manage to tame enough Dinopitheci , you'll soon find yourself with a small troop at your disposal. Your mini-troop will organize around the strongest of your tames, their new alpha that can then direct them at a target with a shrieked battle-cry.

No need to saddle your tamed Dinopithecus to ride it -- it will make one for you using its own tail. Just hold on tight, and it will take you straight up walls and across ziplines.

In battle, your Dinopithecus will fling fecal projectiles, grenades, or a combination that I like to call EBM, for Explosive Bowel Movement.

Amargasaurus is also making its grand appearance on Lost Island!

For more information on Amargasaurus, be sure to check out the dossier in an earlier Community Crunch[survivetheark.com]!

Path of Exile - Patch 3.15.0e and Royale Balance

Patch 3.15.0e and Royale Balance

Posted: 29 Jul 2021 04:26 PM PDT

Yesterday, we released {LINK REMOVED} which introduced several changes and bug fixes to Path of Exile alongside some balance changes for Royale ahead of our next Royale weekend. We are also working on a couple of other improvements we want to keep you in the loop about.

If you missed out on getting your Rhoa Dinners last time, this is your chance to get in on the action! If this is your first time playing Royale, you can find out more about the game mode {LINK REMOVED}.

Matches start at Friday 30th July, 1:00PM PDT and will be open until Monday 2nd August, 12:00AM PDT.

3.15.0e Patch Notes
Bug Fixes
  • Fixed a bug where Logbook explicit modifiers were not applying to Expedition areas.
  • Fixed a bug where you were unable to complete the "Defeat these Unique Monsters" challenge if you killed Innocence before The Matriarch in Act 5. Killing The Risen Matriarch now gives credit towards this challenge if you have already killed Innocence.
  • Fixed a bug where Medved, Feller of Heroes was not affected by Remnant modifiers.
  • Fixed a bug where the Usurper's Penance unique helmet could not drop.
  • Fixed two instance crashes.
  • Fixed a client crash.
In order for the Logbook fix to take effect (for those on while it was deployed) you'll have to create a new Hideout through Helena, or let your Hideout instance timeout.

Royale-Specific Changes: (Only affects Royale, not regular gameplay)

This week's changes are mostly focused on increasing the variety of viable build options, reducing the chance of feeling stuck at level 1, and fixing a few lingering issues.

Royale Gameplay Changes
  • Players who disconnect from a Royale match will now leave behind a corpse, allowing their items to be looted.
  • Killing another player now grants 500 experience plus 20% of the player's total experience (previously 200 experience plus 20%).
  • The penalty applied to experience gain for killing a lower level player has been increased. For example, killing a player 2 levels lower than you would previously reduce the experience gained from the kill by approximately 40%, it is now reduced by approximately 60%.
  • Night Adders and Serpentine Constructs no longer flee from players, and grant approximately 20% more experience when killed.
  • Equipment drops from monsters and chests are less likely to be magic (and therefore more likely to be either normal or rare).
  • Monsters now drop significantly higher numbers of Skill and Support Gems.
  • Items spawned on the ground are more likely to be Skill and Support Gems.
Royale Skill and Support Gem Changes
  • Ball Lightning now deals approximately 35% more damage to players. Its damage against monsters has not been changed.
  • Blight's base damage over time has been reduced by 30% at all gem levels. The base duration of its damage over time debuff has been reduced from 2.5 seconds to 1.5 seconds. Blight's mana cost has been increased, it now costs 3 mana at gem level 1, and 4 mana at gem level 3 (previously 2 mana at gem level 1, and 3 mana at gem level 8).
  • Burning Arrow now proliferates ignites inflicted, with a radius of 15. It now has 20-47% more damage with ignite at gem levels 1-10 (previously 0-18%).
  • Cobra Lash now chains an additional time at gem level 1. It now has a 60% chance to poison at all levels (previously 40%). Its mana cost has been reduced from 5 to 4.
  • The mana cost of Divine Ire has been increased to 3 (previously 1).
  • The flat damage component of Explosive Arrow's explosions has been reduced by 20% at all levels. Additionally, Explosive Arrow now deals approximately 24% less damage to players.
  • Fireball's base radius has been increased by 3, and it now gains 5-7 radius as the projectile travels further at gem levels 1-10 (previously 0-4). It now has a 50% chance to ignite at all gem levels (previously 20-29% at gem levels 1–10).
  • Firestorm's base damage has been increased by approximately 29% at all levels.
  • Heavy Strike now adds 4-6 melee strike range at gem levels 1-10 (previously 2-3).
  • Ice Spear's base damage has been increased by 100% at all levels. To compensate, it now deals 45% less damage to players.
  • Leap Slam now has +1.2 seconds to attack time (previously 0.85 seconds).
  • Lesser Multiple Projectiles Support now causes supported skills to deal 30-25% less damage at gem levels 1-10 (previously 15-10% less damage).
  • Rain of Arrows now deals 70% of base weapon damage at level 1 (previously 60%). Additionally, it now deals 20% more damage to players.
  • Whirling Blades now has +1.5 seconds to attack time (previously 0.5 seconds).
Royale Passive Skill Tree Changes
  • The Accelerated Volley notable passive now also causes projectiles to pierce an additional time.
  • The Spellmaster notable passive now grants 10% increased cast speed. It no longer grants 10% increased spell damage.
  • The amount of melee strike range granted by the Reigning Champion notable passive has been reduced from 5 to 3.
  • The Path to Power, Frenetic Fighter and Endless Endurance notable passives now grant 300% increased power/frenzy/endurance charge duration respectively (previously 50%).
  • The Veinslicer notable passive now grants 4 life for each enemy hit by your attacks (previously 12).
Royale Item Changes
  • The Fated End and Doedre's Damning unique rings can no longer drop.
  • The Cloak of Defiance unique body armour no longer grants 1% of mana regenerated per second.
  • The Dance of the Offered unique boots no longer grant +50–60 to maximum mana.
  • The Royale-exclusive version of the "of Ease" local attack speed modifier on weapons now has a range of 15-25% (previously 8-15%).
Royale Bug Fixes
  • Fixed a bug where unusable Quicksilver Flasks could occasionally drop. There are meant to be no Quicksilver Flasks in Royale.
  • Fixed a bug where Divine Ire was unable to hit players while channelling.
  • Fixed a visual bug where the "Damage with Hits is Lucky" stat on the Cruel Voltage notable passive was not being displayed.
You will need to restart your client to receive the client changes in this patch. It is important to do this before this weekends Path of Exile: Royale event, as otherwise your client will be out of sync.

In addition to the improvements listed in today's patch above, we also wanted to reassure you that we're also still working on the following improvements and will deploy them as soon as possible.

Vendor Reroll Adjustments
We're changing the drop rates for the various Expedition NPC's reroll currency. The plan is that they'll drop from Runic Monsters in stacks (rather than as single drops) that scale up in quantity based on monster level, making them more common. Note that this change will affect Runic Monsters only, and drops from Excavated Chests will remain unchanged. Artifacts will also scale up in the same way, providing more in the endgame.

While you'll ultimately get more reroll currency for Dannig, Rog and Tujen because of the increased stack sizes, the drop chance has remained unchanged with the exception of Astragali (Gwennen's reroll currency), which has had its drop rate slightly lowered in maps. It was already far more common than the other ones.

We also wanted to mention that the fix from 3.15.0d, "Fixed a bug where item quantity modifiers did not affect drops for some items such as Crescent Splinters, Sacred Blossoms, and Expedition Artifacts" should make Expedition currencies more common as drops and increase their stack size in general.

Curse Map Mods
As mentioned in our {LINK REMOVED} post earlier this week, we are changing the Curse map modifiers to not have increased effect. These two changes are next up on our list of fixes to deploy as soon as feasible.

We'll be continuing to monitor your feedback regarding Expedition and Royale! In the meantime, we'll see you on the island, Exiles!

Gears 5 Operation 8: Drop 1 - Reveal

Operation 8: Drop 1 - Reveal

Posted: 28 Jul 2021 12:18 PM PDT

Hello everyone!

The time has come to talk about Operation 8! This post will cover everything you can expect to see when the operation goes live on Tuesday, August 3rd.

Trailer

Before you dive into the full post, check out the Operation 8 trailer!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GLzwTa61ID0

Characters

Bernadette Mataki

Sergeant Bernadette "Bernie" Mataki is a legendary sharpshooter who fought for the COG in the Pendulum and Locust Wars. With a caustic sense of humor and an unerring sense of aim, Bernie is a relentless force on the battlefield.

Ketor Vrol

A crusading zealot with a deep-seated hatred of humanity, Ketor Vrol is one of the first Locust and served Queen Myrrah alongside RAAM and Ukkon. Vrol is a high priest of the Locust Horde who leads his people in worshipping the Trinity of Worms, who created the sacred birthright of the Locust: the Hollows.

New Map Addition

Ritual

The Weilehan people once gave tribute to the Wakaatu at these ancient ruins. Controlling both the catacombs and the altar is key to avoiding unexpected flanks.

PvP

In Operation 7, we introduced Competitive mode, bringing with it seven total playlists, each with exclusive Leaderboards.

We're happy to announce that due to overwhelmingly positive feedback we'll be adding Capture the Flag as our eighth and final competitive mode to Gears 5 for Operation 8 going forward. This mode will also have exclusive banners to unlock as well as a new leaderboard to climb!

Alongside competitive updates, we'll be adding more exclusive competitive rewards, some prototype weapons, and more, let's dive in!

PvP – Competitive Rewards

In Operation 7 we gave away the Heroic Obsidian weapon set, which was awarded in batches if you finished playlists in the top 1000. We are still going to be offering this reward with the same criteria, but we'll be rotating through the weapon groups so that players can earn all the weapon skins without having to grind different playlists.

In addition to the above we're still granting the same top 100/1 rewards as last season but with one change: The Grandmaster Gnasher will be swapped out for the Grandmaster Obsidian Gnasher.

For Season 9 of competitive, we'll then swap the Obsidian Gnasher out for the Grandmaster Bloody Gnasher.

We are also adding new banners to earn for each of the competitive modes in Operation 8 so make sure to keep an eye out for that!

So just to recap, here's how the competitive rewards will now work:

  • 100k points – Playlist Mark – 100k
  • 500k points – Playlist Mark – 500k
  • 1 million points – Playlist Master Banner
  • If you finish in the top 1,000 – Some weapons from Heroic Obsidian Gnasher set.
  • If you finish in the top 100
    • Playlist Grandmaster Banner
    • Trinity Skorge
    • Grandmaster Obsidian Gnasher
    • Golden Heart Bloodspray
  • If you finish the season as the top player
    • Golden Gnasher Bloodspray

PvP – Prototype Weapons

Throughout the development of Gears 5, we prototyped different weapons for inclusion in PvP, but, sadly many of them didn't make it into the game.

In Operation 8 we're going to be adding two prototype weapons to custom matches and events so you can try them out, however, they will not be customizable for skins.

Markza MK2

Back in Gears of War Judgment we released a weapon called the Breechshot. As a prototype, the Markza MK2 exists to replicate that weapon's behavior.

The Markza MK2 is a five-round rifle, with the ability to instantly headshot an enemy, its drawback is a slow rate of fire which can cost the player opportunities or even result in their death.

To try and replicate that Gears of War Judgment feel we've also used the original crosshair that was present for Breechshot, which should help to achieve that same gun feel.

Revive Grenade

The Revive Grenade previously existed as the Stim-Gas Grenade in Gears of War Judgment, featuring the ability to continuously heal players inside the blast radius.

We used that as the inspiration for the Revive Grenade, which can revive Down But Not Out (DBNO) players. We imagine it can be a round changer in objective playlists.

We're incredibly excited to get these out to you and we look forward to seeing how you use them in customs!

PvP – Tweaks

Note: Ping will still appear on this scoreboard, this is just a bot game.

  • Alongside all the updates above, we have some significant quality of life changes coming to the Versus experience, including some competitive changes.
  • We're removing the ability to see the PC Icon in Public lobbies across Gears 5. The icon will remain in place for Custom matches to help maintain esports integrity.
  • We've added an option to add a delay to the expression wheel appearing. , tThis can be toggled from instantly to 5 seconds which should help prevent accidental openings of the wheel while in combat.
  • You can now toggle off the option to "Yank" a player over cover, sometimes a player will accidentally try to yank while trying to revive a DBNO player against cover which will help prevent this issue from occurring.
  • We have updated the Scoreboard to provide more meaningful stats across the board for viewers and players.
    • Execution/Warzone: Kill/Death/Assist, Damage Done, First Bloods, Revives.
    • KOTH/Control: Kill/Death/Assist, Damage Done, OBJ Kills (any player you kill inside the objective.), Caps/Breaks.
    • TDM/Dodgeball: Kill/Death/Assist, Damage Done, Kill Streak (this is your current kill streak but will reset at the end of each round or if you die.), Revives.
    • Guardian: Kill/Death/Assist, Damage Done, Leader Kills, Revives.
    • Escalation: Kill/Death/Assist, Damage Done, Kill Streak, Caps/Breaks.
    • Gridiron/Capture the Flag: Kill/Death/Assist, Damage Done, Touchdowns, Denials.
  • We've made the following changes to competitive mode scoring:
    • Players who are playing solo will now get a 25% boost to their score at the end of a competitive match (up from 15%)
    • Players will now receive 5,000 points for a victory in all team-based competitive modes.
  • We've added the Relic Weapons into the Swap All and Custom Match weapon swaps list.

PvE

Throughout Gears 5 we have run multiple events across the game for Horde such as Nexus Siege, Escape from Kadar, and more.

We're happy to announce that at the start of Operation 8 we'll be adding all these event modes to Custom Games!

This will mean you can experience the Locust returning with Nexus Siege on a map such as Ephyra or mix it up with the Wakaatu on Ritual!

All the events you can now select from are listed below:

  • Boss Rush – Survive 10 waves against bosses only.
  • Escape from Kadar – Survive 10 waves against Niles' creations.
  • Horde Mania – Survive 25 waves with a short build period.
  • Horde Roulette – Survive 10 waves of random enemy combinations.
  • Jingle Juvies – Survive 20 waves of joyous Jingle Juvies.
  • Mad Man's Monsters – Survive 20 waves against the Mad Man's Monsters.
  • Nexus Siege – Survive 10 waves of Locust with no Fabricator.
  • Predator Hunt – Survive 10 waves and battle the Wakaatu with no Fabricator.

Finally, we've also addressed the issues that stopped us from adding Turbine and Atrium to Horde custom games, you can expect to see these in at the start of Operation 8.

James Bond Infiltrates Rocket League

Posted: 28 Jul 2021 10:00 AM PDT

The name's League... Rocket League

Get ready to jump into the driver's seat of the iconic car driven by James Bond himself! The Rocket League pitch will be shaken, maybe even stirred, by the arrival of the famous 1963 Aston Martin DB5 on July 29.

Q has been hard at work in the lab developing the perfect vehicle for Soccar. The Aston Martin DB5 has been outfitted with rocket boost and an Octane hitbox, and is now ready to go airborne and score goals. 007's Aston Martin DB5 comes with the signature Silver Birch Paint Finish that resembles the original color of the Aston Martin, one-of-a-kind Engine Audio, 007's Aston Martin DB5 Wheels, and a Reel Life Decal.

*Note: The items included in the bundle can only be equipped by the Aston Martin DB5. The Aston Martin DB5 cannot be customized with all item types.

Get 007's Aston Martin DB5 in the Item Shop for 1100 Credits for a limited time before it's gone. Bond will declassify more of his garage later this year, so stay tuned for more mission briefings!

DELIVERANCE, TOME VIII OF THE ARCHIVES, IS NOW AVAILABLE!

Posted: 28 Jul 2021 08:03 AM PDT

In Tome VIII: DELIVERANCE climb inside The Clown's twisted mind as a chemical mishap turns a standard kill into a cartoon-fueled hallucination. Watch Jake Park grapple with his own mortality as the hunter becomes the hunted. And join the Observer on his quest for answers as he peels back terrifying new layers of the omniverse.

Stories are everything. We use them to understand our relationships… our sense of self… our reality. They bring us joy, insight and inspiration. They teach us, build us, and empower us. Stories are the elixir of the soul… but they can also be a poison. Defeating us, destroying us, corrupting us, keeping us in an endless loop of pain and suffering.
Sometimes the only way to escape is to find another story… the right story...

Unlockable character Memories include:

  • Jeffrey Hawk (The Clown) – FINGER OF CHAOS
  • Jake Park – EXILE OF THE KINGDOM
  • The Observer – MIDNIGHT IN THE GARDEN OF ETERNITY
In the DELIVERANCE Rift, players can earn over 60 time-limited rewards through the Free and Premium Tracks including new complete outfits for The Clown and Jake Park.

This Rift also introduces a brand-new challenge for Survivors: Yellow Glyphs. Survivors can seek these out during trials to trigger a series of skill checks designed to test even the sharpest reflexes. Pass them to complete the challenge. Fail, and the Glyph teleports away and must be found again.

Tome VIII: DELIVERANCE is available now through The Archives.

See you in the Fog,

The Dead by Daylight team.
