Integrating Blight into Core Path of Exile

Posted: 28 Nov 2019 02:02 PM PST

Blight was a slightly divisive league, but not nearly as much as Synthesis or Bestiary, which were consequently not integrated into the core game in the form they were initially released in. After a lot of internal discussion, we have decided to integrate Blight into the core game on PC with the release of 3.9.0. For now, Blight won't be added to Core Path of Exile on console platforms due to some performance problems we need to solve. Our plan is to fix these problems and to integrate it.

Blight will not be present during the main storyline campaign. Once you reach Maps, Blight encounters will spawn in 10% of map areas you enter. Every encounter will drop at least one Oil or Blighted Map. The chance of Blighted Maps dropping has been significantly increased compared to their previous drop rate.

Despite the fact that Blight encounters now guarantee an Oil or Blighted Map drop, Oils are inherently going to be more rare than they were before because you're encountering Blight content less often.

Some feedback from players was that Blight encounters became too easy in very high level areas. Our work on endgame difficulty in Conquerors of the Atlas has certainly affected Blight also, so you should see an appropriate level of difficulty for the rewards granted at high levels.

Once you get a chance to play Conquerors of the Atlas, let us know feedback about Blight's integration and whether there's anything else you feel we should address. Thanks as always!

Steam Awards - Rust Nomination

Posted: 27 Nov 2019 10:12 AM PST

The annual Steam Awards nominations have started and we hope you'll vote for Rust to win the "Labor of Love" award.

Rust is nearly 6 years old now and it's got better every year with more people playing it than ever. In the last year or so alone we've seen vehicles from boats[rust.facepunch.com] and hot air balloons to minicopters[rust.facepunch.com] and also horses[rust.facepunch.com] with horse armor[rust.facepunch.com]. We added new areas like the Scientist Compound and the Bandit Town[rust.facepunch.com] plus of course, Monuments like the Oil Rig[rust.facepunch.com]. We put electricity[rust.facepunch.com] in the game. In the last few months we introduced Killer Mummies at Halloween, the most epic trees you've ever seen and (soon) we've got our first ever DLC with musical instruments like the Wheelbarrow Piano and Canbourine. Also, Rust looks and plays a hell of a lot better than in Legacy days, so there's that.

We're really grateful for all the support the Rust community has shown over the years and we hope this award will recognise that too. All you need to do is click the `Labor of Love 2019` box above for our eternal gratitude!

Rainbow 6 - PRE-SEASON DESIGNER'S NOTES Y4S4

PRE-SEASON DESIGNER'S NOTES Y4S4

Posted: 26 Nov 2019 09:38 AM PST

Find all the latest balancing changes coming with Operation Shifting Tides.[rainbow6.com] Our Dev Team is about to give an insider perspective at what led us to tweak certain abilities, weapons and gadgets.

WEAPON BALANCING

M-12 SMG
  • Increased M-12 SMG damage from 36 to 40
The M-12 is currently one of the lowest damages and slowest firing SMGs in the game. With most players favouring the Luison, there is currently very little reason to select the M-12. Our Devs are looking to give the M-12 a fairer chance during duels.

FO-12 SHOTGUN
  • Decreased damage dealt beyond 10 meters
  • Spread increase and accuracy reduction
Ela's FO-12 is very strong and frustrating, mostly for console players, but on PC as well. She is targeted by Operator bans by console players and when she is not, her pick rate is very high. This weapon should be more in line with other semi-automatic shotguns. We also want to reduce her ban rate and how frustrating Ela can be.

SASG-12
  • Spread increase and accuracy reduction
The SASG-12 shares many similarities with the FO-12. A spread increase when shooting rapidly as well as an increased recoil will make it a bit less easy to control.

BOSG 12.2
  • #BOSGACOG is here
Adding the ACOG to 707th SMB Operator shotgun was mostly motivated by the low performance of the weapon. Even if part of the community was also looking forward to the addition of the ACOG, it remained a pure balancing decision. This new sight should not affect the overall performance of this weapon.

As usual, we will monitor its performance for Dokkaebi and Vigil and adjust whatever is necessary.

OPERATOR BALANCING

GLAZ
  • Increased Glaz's scope highlight base intensity
We are giving our Russian sniper a bit more love to help him spot enemies even when the scope is not charged, thus making his scope useful in more situations.

KAID
  • Increased Kaid's Electroclaw radius from 0.75m to 1.3m
  • Replaced Impact Grenades with Barbed Wire
Kaid's gadget leaves ample room for creativity. The feedback we gathered indicated that Electroclaws added variety to many situations but needed an extra edge.

A wider radius instead of a third Electroclaw is more comfortable for attackers to handle, as it won't require any extra gadgets to counter. The activation speed still allows for tricking and the return of his barbed wires should lead to more creative setups.

Kaid's loadout has gone through several adjustments. This more cautious and step by step approach gives enough time to our community to explore all its potential.

WARDEN
  • Replaced Barbed Wire with C4
We want to increase his potential as a denial Defender for defuser plays. The C4 should give him more opportunity to defend a bomb site without exposing himself.

In addition, we are still considering other options to make sure Warden is relevant, we will tell you more when ready.

JACKAL

Jackal's rework will be included in Operation Shifting Tides. As the most banned attacker, Jackal is a high source of frustration for many players and one of our top balancing priorities.

If you would like to know more about this rework, you can check our previous Designer's Notes.[rainbow6.com]

LIMB PENETRATION

The new bullet penetration system will impact every bullet you shoot. Our Dev Team is aiming at reducing confusion. A side effect of this change should increase the lethality of various classes of weapons in certain situations. If you'd like to know more, please refer to this blog.[rainbow6.com]

New Bow Support Gems in Path of Exile: Conquerors of the Atlas

Posted: 26 Nov 2019 05:32 PM PST

As part of our targeted improvements to Bows in 3.9.0, we're introducing three new Support Gems that work with Bow skills: Arrow Nova Support, Greater Volley Support and Barrage Support.

Arrow Nova Support

The Arrow Nova support turns a forward firing arrow skill into an upward firing payload arrow, which lands at a targeted location. When the arrow hits the ground, it bursts into a nova of the skill's projectiles. This support is available at level 8 for the Ranger, opening up interesting new ways to spread your arrow effects over an area.

Ground targeted projectiles like Caustic Arrow, Vaal Burning Arrow and Tornado Shot will explode a fixed distance from the Nova location, creating a wide damage area if they don't explode on a closer target first. For Caustic Arrow, this lets you spread caustic ground over a very large area with ease.

Greater Volley Support

Knowledgeable players will know that the Greater Volley Support already exists on the Reach of the Council unique bow. We have decided it would be interesting if it became its own support gem. Because of this change, Reach of the Council will be improved. This support is available at level 38.

Greater Volley comes with a slightly lower damage multiplier than Greater Multiple Projectiles, given that the damage shape is less desirable for most projectile skills.

Lesser Multiple Projectiles and Volley supports have been often left by the wayside in favour of Greater Multiple Projectiles at end-game - both of these supports will have lower damage multipliers than they currently do, making them more attractive both for levelling and as endgame options.

Barrage Support

This support gem causes skills to fire wand and bow skill projectiles sequentially. Each projectile adds a little bit of attack time, so the skill isn't unreasonable with skills that inherently have a lot of additional projectiles like Split Arrow and Power Siphon. You will be able to cancel out of a Barrage once it has started, so too many projectiles won't lock you in place for a long time. This support is available at level 38.

The Barrage skill gem hasn't changed significantly. It has functionally the same behaviour as the Barrage Support but does not have more attack time per extra projectile. This makes extra projectiles relatively more valuable compared to other Bow skills supported by Barrage. The Volley Fire threshold jewel will now be limited to 1 (from 3) and grant 6 additional projectiles to the first and final attacks (up from 2), giving you much more value for the socket cost.

Separate to these changes, Shrapnel Shot has been adjusted and renamed Galvanic Arrow. It is especially interesting with the Barrage Support, with each sequential projectile repeating the area damage cone. We'll talk more about the Galvanic Arrow changes soon when we go over all reworked and rebalanced skills.

Support Gem Combinations

Any arrow-firing Skill + Barrage + Arrow Nova
This causes the projectiles from the skill to spiral around the impact point, both looking cool and letting you deal high damage to enemies near the target location.

Any Arrow + Barrage + Greater Volley
This causes a sequential volley to fire in a line from side to side, damaging a condensed area that can hit enemies many times.

Check out a video preview below!

There are other interesting combinations to discover with existing support gems and certain bow skills, including other reworked and improved bow skills. We'll be going over these reworked bow skills soon, so stay tuned.

PUBG - PGC 2019 - Winner Winner Gen.G Eats PGC 2019 for Dinner

PGC 2019 - Winner Winner Gen.G Eats PGC 2019 for Dinner

Posted: 24 Nov 2019 11:54 PM PST

The world watched as the final day of the PUBG Global Championship gave rise to a new battle royale esports champion, PKL's Gen.G!

Champion's Journey

Gen.G's path to PGC victory was by no means a straight line as we watched them evolve into a champion team before our eyes. The Gen.G we saw in Manhattan Beach for the Group Stage and Semifinals is a far cry from the team that showed up to Oakland. They were able to work their way through those early rounds well enough, but they were not where fans expected them to be. Gen.G came to Oakland far more decisive and aggressive. Once they found their feet, their star player and slaying juggernaut Pio was able to come alive with big kill sprees and a strong flank game to give his team that extra edge.

Gen.G never secured a Chicken Dinner on Day 2 of the Grand Finals, but they effectively nursed the lead they established on Day 1 to get the job done. That and a ferocious 10 kills on the last map of the day to overcome a two point deficit was all Gen.G would need to overpower 4AM.

Match Winners
Match 1 (Miramar) – FaZe Clan
Match 2 (Miramar) – Na'Vi
Match 3 (Miramar) – 4AM
Match 4 (Sanhok) – VC Gaming
Match 5 (Erangel) – 4AM
Match 6 (Erangel) – Na'Vi

Miramar Madness

When it comes to the Grand Finals, no ordinary format would do. The final day of PGC 2019 had players starting out with three matches on Miramar, finishing with two on Erangel, with a Sanhok game in between. Typically Miramar is a strong NPL map, however today it was PEL's Na'Vi and Faze Clan who took the first two wins. Genesis made a valiant effort to take Match 3, but 4AM's Forever managed to take it in a 2-v-1 prone showdown.

In It For The Long Haul
A big pattern for the final day of PGC was teams not going down until late in the match. Much like being the first to fall asleep at a sleepover, if you go down too soon, you miss all the good stuff. Getting knocked out early was not an option if teams wanted those points. That meant teeny tiny circles with LOTS of bodies and lots of action.

This pushed teams in terms of multitasking skills as more often than not, there were three if not more parties involved in firefights. Casters were working overtime keeping up with all the high stakes battles.

When it was all said and done and sorted, however, Gen.G went wire-to-wire in the Grand Finals, save a brief scare from PCL's Four Angry Men, and left no doubt about their championship pedigree. They're the winners of $2M USD in prize money, thanks to the PGC crowdfunding programs, and Gen.G stand undisputed as the last survivors of PUBG Esports in 2019.

PUBG - PGC 2019 - Grand Finals Day One: Gen.G Leads the Charge

PGC 2019 - Grand Finals Day One: Gen.G Leads the Charge

Posted: 23 Nov 2019 11:31 PM PST

The PGC Grand Finals have arrived! Oakland Arena was filled with PUBG fans ready to cheer on their favorite top teams. There was no shortage of chaos and show stopping moments and the audience was LOVING it!

Top Guns

Gen.G set the bar high by taking the first two wins on Ergangel with a hefty amount of kills in their pocket. From here on out, if anyone wanted to take that top spot from Gen.G they would have needed to deliver some efficient killing runs. If ever there was a team that was capable of doing so, it was Four Angry Men. These PCL favorites were nothing short of vicious with aggressive tactics and tight, methodical rotations. Watch as xxxLu is able to clean house thanks to his team getting him access to this angle.

Two teams that turned in consistent performances were OGN Entus Force and OGN Entus Ace. At one point, these two PKL teams had an epic showdown with OGN Entus Ace coming out victorious and taking the win on Sanhok.

Potential Landmines
The teams on the bottom may not be where they want to be on the leaderboard, but there are some that could easily disrupt the ranks on Day 2. Getting the kills, but never the Dinner we have The Rumblers. If they could turn their solid edge game into some wins they could be a much bigger threat. Waldoe in particular made a big show of himself, managing to move into the top five for kills. PML's Global Esports Xsset (GEX) is another team with lots of potential to cause problems for the front runners. They found themselves staring down Gen.G's barrels often and managed to take them out with common sense instincts.

This is not the first time GEX has showed this level of composure when they're in a bind as they made similar moves in both the Group Stage and the Semifinals. There's a reason they're here for the final show. Meanwhile, Faze once again pulled out a last minute surprise on Miramar by taking the last Chicken Dinner of the day after playing quietly for most of the evening. They are a prime candidate to pull off an upset come Day 2.

New Day, Same Teams
The beauty of the Grand Finals is that while teams may get knocked down or disillusioned on Day 1, everyone will punch in again tomorrow. By now everyone on the battlegrounds has had a chance to get acquainted with one another. Day 2 will be the occasion when teams will try to throw one another off by changing their playbooks. Some adjustments may be minor, other teams may come in looking to completely reinvent themselves. The best mindset going into the final day of PGC is to assume NOTHING.

Match Winners
Match 1 (Erangel) – Gen.G
Match 2 (Erangel) – Gen.G
Match 3 (Erangel) – TSM
Match 4 (Sanhok) – OGN Entus Ace
Match 5 (Miramar) – Tempo Storm
Match 6 (Miramar) – Faze Clan

You'll want to be tuned in to http://watch.pubgesports.com on Sunday, November 24 at 5:00 p.m. PT to watch the incredible conclusion of PGC 2019!

The balance of power is tipping. An imminent threat grows stronger, surging across the Origin System.

Will you stand against it?

Build the Dry Dock, assemble your Railjack and prepare for the coming battle. What will begin as a hangar will evolve into your sanctuary, a space to hone and upgrade your ship with powerful technology to become the weapon you'll need. Build the Dry Dock by rallying your clan and contributing Resources to its construction. After that, if you have completed the Second Dream Quest, it's time to forge your ship.

BUILDING YOUR RAILJACK
The Sigma Series Railjack is an Old-War era ship capable of all-out warfare. This ancient Orokin technology is key to surviving what's to come — but you must first recover what was lost.

The Command Cephalon

Every ship needs a commander. Meet Cy, a no-nonsense Cephalon who values mission protocol above everything. Purchase the Railjack Cephalon Blueprint in your Dry Dock, rebuild him and bring him back online. Cephalon Cy will then direct you on how to craft your Railjack.

The Broken Vessel

Time has not been kind to the Railjacks. You'll need to work with Cephalon Cy to find viable salvage from wreckage across the Origin System. Locate the six necessary Railjack components, retrieve them, then return back to the Dry Dock to restore them to glory. Once your Railjack is rebuilt, you'll be able to board and explore your ship. Ignition and flight command requires additional components, which have yet to be located by Cephalon Cy.

ORBITER 2.0
Your Orbiter needs to be in fighting shape to protect the Origin System. See the stars through new viewing ports and marvel at improved lighting and overhauled visuals!

EQUINOX ANTONYM
Unleash your opposite and kill with contrast as Equinox Antonym. This collection includes the Equinox Antonym Skin, the Astreos Sword and Shield Skin, and Circadian Syandana.
