Modes of May Kicks Off May 1

Posted: 29 Apr 2020 10:38 AM PDT

May is just around the corner, and we're celebrating by introducing the Modes of May! Starting May 1, you'll find different Limited Time Modes (LTM) in Rocket League each weekend throughout the month.

It all starts this Friday with Dropshot Rumble. Just like the name suggests, the two Extra Modes have collided for the action of Dropshot enhanced by the zany power-ups from Rumble. Enjoy the Limited Time Mode all weekend long!

Then, look out for Beach Ball mode on May 7. If you missed it during Radical Summer last year, Beach Ball Mode features 2v2 fun in the sun where the ball floats and curves just like a beach ball. May 14 unveils the community favorite Boomer Ball (more on that as we get closer), and the month comes to a close with the return of Heatseeker on May 21.

Each mode will begin at 9 a.m. PDT (4 p.m. UTC) on their respective launch days, and will end at 9 a.m. PDT (4 p.m. UTC) on their end dates. Like other Limited Time Modes, each mode will be Unranked and found in a separate tab in the Play Online menu. They will also grant the same amount of XP as all other Online Playlists, so you'll still Tier Up your Rocket Pass 6 level as usual.

Take a look below for the schedule during the Modes of May:

  • May 1 - May 4: Dropshot Rumble
  • May 7 - May 11: Beach Ball
  • May 14 - May 18: Boomer Ball
  • May 21 - May 26: Heatseeker

Get ready for this collection of new and returning Limited Time Modes in the Modes of May!

Path of Exile - Developer Pets Showcase

Developer Pets Showcase

Posted: 29 Apr 2020 05:56 PM PDT

Three weeks ago we revealed photos of our temporary workplaces. Since this news post was so warmly received by our community, we felt our current work situation could be a nice opportunity for you to get to know our team a little bit more. Recently we asked our developers to share pictures of their pets! Check them out below.

Alex D. - Programmer
Here's my brothers' retired champion greyhound who I live with.

Dominic - Audio Engineer
Here's our flat pet, Bonzai! He is a Siberian Husky and his Instagram is @Bonzai_The_Husky.

Patrick - Customer Support
Here are a few photos of my cat Harry (Harriet). She was my grandmother's cat and we adopted her after she passed.

Kane - Senior Audio Engineer
Our cat is quite a character. His name is Malchik which means 'boy' in Russian, as my wife is Russian and I liked the sound of it. He loves to invade our bed and sleep in ridiculous poses. Since lockdown he has been following us around all day, confused why the heck we are home 24/7.

Bex - Community Director
This is Thunder. We named her as such because she has a really loud purr. She only answers to Cat or Pusspuss. She's half Ocicat and half regular cat. She's the worst. Her mum's name is Gary.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/1245150/Remnant_From_the_Ashes__Swamps_of_Corsus/

Face new challenges and fight to survive in Remnant: From the Ashes - Swamps of Corsus DLC, available now on PC! Coming to Xbox One and PlayStation®4 on June 4.

Battle new threats in Swamps of Corsus, a new premium DLC for Remnant: From the Ashes, now available on PC (Steam) for $9.99, along with a bundle including the Remnant: From the Ashes base game and Swamps of Corsus DLC for $44.99. From April 28 to May 3, the bundle will be available for 40% off the retail price as part of Steam Midweek Madness. The new DLC and DLC bundle will be coming to Xbox One and PlayStation®4 on June 4.

In the latest DLC for Remnant: From the Ashes, players navigate a more deadly version of the world of Corsus, inhabited by the Cult of Iskal, and also take on the toughest challenge yet: the brand-new, rogue-like "Survival Mode." In the revamped Corsus zone exclusively in Adventure mode, the hive mind Cult of Iskal has claimed the swamps for themselves, proving to be as lethal and dangerous as the Root, the evil force plaguing Earth. All hope is not lost for players, however, as a lone holdout remains, out of reach of the Iskal's grasp. To change the future of Corsus, players must confront the Queen and stop the Iskal once and for all or choose to help her complete the Iskal's plan. Exploring Corsus in Adventure Mode gives players the chance to earn unique rewards - including three powerful weapons - by overcoming various challenges in the form of deadly overworld enemies, side dungeons and epic bosses, like the menacing Barbed Terror. Along with the swarm of new content in the Swamps of Corsus, the DLC includes a new rogue-like test of will in "Survival Mode." This intense mode thrusts players into a completely randomized permadeath experience that challenges them to progress as far as they can in one life. In the new mode, players start with nothing but a Repeater Pistol, a few consumables and a handful of scrap. Players travel randomly through corrupted World Stones to various biomes and fight for survival against hordes of enemies that get stronger with each stage, in hopes of finding epic rewards, such as new armor, and new weapons - like the Hero's Sword that unleashes a powerful wave attack.

  • New Mode – Survival: Players fight for their lives as they begin their journey with nothing but a pistol, some scrap and the skin on their back in this new rogue-like game mode! Those brave enough will travel randomly through corrupted World Stones to different biomes, scrap-up gear, fight insanely-difficult bosses and test their endurance.
  • The Iskal Rise – The swamps of Corsus swarm with new content! Players will discover a plethora of new content in Corsus, including a new zone, new bosses, new stories, new events, new quests, and more.
  • Lock & Load – Adventurers will collect new items, new armor, new weapons, new mods and new traits.
  • Armor Skins – By defeating bosses in Survival Mode, or the Hard and Nightmare difficulties in Campaign and Adventure Mode, players earn Glowing Shards which can be used to purchase alternate armor skins for every piece of armor available in the game.

Remnant: From the Ashes is a third-person survival action shooter set in a post-apocalyptic world overrun by monstrous creatures. As one of the last remnants of humanity, you set out alone or alongside up to two other players to face down hordes of deadly enemies and epic bosses, and try to carve a foothold, rebuild, and then retake what was lost. Remnant: From the Ashes is available digitally for $39.99 on PC (Arc and Steam), Xbox One and PlayStation®4. The physical version is also available now at Amazon, Best Buy, GameStop, among other retailers for PC, PlayStation®4 and Xbox One for $39.99. Artifact - The Heroes We Need

The Heroes We Need

Posted: 27 Apr 2020 01:03 PM PDT

This week we wanted to talk a bit more about the heroes in Artifact. These have been viewed as one of the strengths in the original game, but also as one of the missed opportunities. The most common concerns we hear are about underwhelming signature cards, lack of abilities, or heroes that fictionally don't fit with their kit.

Our philosophy this time around is different, so we'd like to go over some of the factors we use when evaluating hero designs.

  • All heroes should have at least one ability.
  • You should be excited to draw a hero's signature cards.
  • Signature cards should avoid being situational.
  • Signature cards should generally be at their best when their corresponding hero uses them.
  • Bonus if a hero has a small self-synergy.
  • It's fine to have two abilities on a hero if at least one of them is a passive.
  • It's fine to have strong active and passive abilities on the board. They create interesting threats to play around.

Let's take a look at the basic heroes and see how they've changed.

Keefe the Bold
  • This big body can absorb a lot of punishment.
  • Reckless Charge can put this bulk to use, letting him redirect damage from soft targets.
  • His active ability, Stop Hittin' Yourself, lets him turn his attackers' strengths against them.
  • Notes: His health was recently increased, and might be a bit too high.

Farvhan the Dreamer
  • Green units tend to stick around in lane, so don't be surprised if you see Farvhan getting up to a big bonus from Pack Leadership.
  • Prowler Vanguard makes it easy to create a creep imbalance, keeping your tower safe.
  • Placing Prowler Vanguard in slot 2 with Farvhan in slot 3 is an easy way to build pressure in a lane.
  • Prowler Vanguard has been feeling a little too expensive, and is likely to decrease to 3 Mana.

J'Muy
  • Runic Instigation has been a fan favorite. One of our favorites was watching Mirana leap in, get refreshed, then leap back to her original slot!
  • Runic Instigation lets you refresh creeps and also items on heroes. This makes J'Muy great to splash with any color.
  • Wisdom of the Elders can keep your hand full, and is a nice choice for an early runic instigation to start getting the cooldown to 1.
  • J'Muy is pretty hefty for a blue hero, giving you good deployment options.

Our feedback alias also had many requests for new heroes. We hashed out a few designs based on these requests and figured we would let you decide which one we add to the beta. Note that the color or abilities might change from those listed here based on testing. Anyway, here's the list we have so far.

Huskar, Red
Active: Life Break
Passive: Berserker's Blood
Signature: Inner Fire

Snapfire, Green
Active: Mortimer Kisses
Signature: Snapfire Cookie

Arc Warden, Blue
Active: Tempest Double
Signature: Spark Wraith

Nyx Assassin, Black
Active: Vendetta
Signature: Spiked Carapace

Please select the one you want from This Poll[www.surveymonkey.com].

We'll close the poll on Thursday, then get to work on that sweet temp art!
