From Wednesday, February 9th through Wednesday, February 16th, love will fill the air as we celebrate Valentine's Day with Love Evolved 3. While ARK is under Cupid's spell, go fishing for love and gain a chance at new skins, items, and five new chibi pets to collect!
Show yourself some love with the new self-hug emote, or try to reel in one of the new swimsuit skins!
This event can be manually activated with the server arg parameter: -ActiveEvent=vday
For the duration of Love Evolved, we will be disabling the world buffs from Baby Boon & Maewing Poach on Genesis Part 2 on the Official Network. In the past, we've adjusted for the impact event have had on the rates by tweaking the bonuses that we use during the holidays, however, those tweaks lead to unfavorable circumstances on maps that aren't Genesis Part 2, so going forward during breeding events, we'll be disabling these mission buffs specifically as not to affect the bonuses on other maps.
2/09/22 - 2/16/22
Valentines Coelacanth can be caught for chibis, chocolates, candies
Mating can randomly drop chocolates and candies!
*Note that these bonuses are multiplicative of the game's standard 1x rates.
Official Servers: 3x XP, Harvesting, Taming, and Breeding (imprint, maturation, hatch/gestation), 0.5x Mating Interval, 1.5x Hexagon Bonus
Note: Moving forward, our monthly Patch Notes will contain both PC and Console updates in a single announcement (thus the simple title).
16.1 Highlights
To be updated with the Live Server update.
※ Please keep in mind that the features and updates we provide below may be modified or even possibly removed due to reasons such as bugs, in-game issues, and/or community feedback. We will update our players if such changes occur.
Weapon Balance
We're back with another weapon balance in this update to provide each weapon type a chance to shine in tactical battles and to prevent scenarios where players are all holstering the identical, overperforming weapon.
After we toned down M416's reload time, base damage, initial bullet speed, and damage drop-off range in Update 7.2 due to the M416 being the most powerful AR and one of the top performing guns in the whole game, we noticed our players were gradually dropping the M416 for stronger ARs such as the Beryl M762. However, despite Beryl M762's several nerfs in past updates, the weapon continues to show strong in-game performance. Additionally, out of all the DMRs, we've noticed the SLR was being favored due to its powerful damage – therefore, players' options in battles seemed to be narrowed down to the Beryl M762 and the SLR.
Yet, we didn't want to stress our players out more by nerfing well-used weapons, so instead we've decided to not only bring M416's stats back up, but we also buffed the hard-hitting, high-velocity Mk12 while having it spawn in other maps to prompt more frequent 5.56mm ammo usage among DMRs.
※ Damage drop-off range: The distance at which the weapon's damage starts to decrease from its maximum damage percentage.
M416
Damage increase: 40 → 41
Initial bullet speed increase: 780m/s → 880m/s
Damage drop-off range increased: 50m → 60m
Mk12
Damage increase: 50 → 51
Damage drop-off range increased: 75m → 90m
The Mk12 will now spawn in every available map (Normal and Ranked).
The spawn settings in Custom Matches have been applied accordingly.
SMGs and Shotguns
We heard and are aware of our players' thoughts on our past weapon balancing on SMGs, Shotguns, etc., but the reason as to why it is difficult to actively readjust in-game balancing is due to the requirement of using several months of cumulative data as a foundation to potential changes. Therefore, we will continue tracking our players' feedback and data to bring healthier balances to the game.
Vehicle Spawn – Ranked
Fixed spawn spots for the Porter have been added to Taego in Ranked Matches.
Map Service
As the winter season melts away, we'll be saying goodbye to Vikendi for a while and welcoming Karakin back to normal matches this season.

The spray items' spraying distance has increased.
Performance
Unnecessary in-game assets, widgets, sounds, and animations have been removed from each game mode and platform to enhance in-game stability and loading speed.
Anti-Cheat (Test Server Only)
A solution to the commonly reported cheat software ESP (that shows other players' locations) we've been working on will be initially tested on this update's Test Server.
To prevent possible issues such as enemy movements appearing awkward from afar to severely shaking character animations to spectating from underwater from occurring, the Death Cam and Replay features in this update's Test Server will be disabled.
Once this solution is concluded to be stable and safe to use, we will discuss implementing them to the Live Server.

Welcome to another edition of the Community Crunch!
This week we are excited to share the concept and dossier for Desmodus, the winner of the second Community Creature Vote! We introduced RCV (Ranked Choice Voting) in the most recent round of community voting and saw Desmodus win (39,781 votes) vs. Carcharodontosaurus (24,419 votes) in the 9th and final round!
In other ARK news, we're starting the weekend off with an EVO event and Love Evolved starts next week. Check out the Love Evolved event details here!
Even with all the other monstrosities around here, this fugitive from a Creature Double Feature deserves top billing. I mean, Dracula's right there in its species name! And Desmodus has a shriek that'll scare just about anything out of its way. It's also shrewd enough to limit itself to victims that it can carry off into the night.
Although I'm not superstitious enough to advise stocking up on garlic and stakes before you decide to track down Desmodus for yourself, I'd still advise you to hunt these horrors out in the light and away from their caves – they seem uniquely adept at flying and hiding in those dark, narrow spaces.
Taming one of these beasties lets you add its eerie abilities to your arsenal. Use their unsettling scream to scatter your enemies. Command Desmodus to snatch up small prey for you. Let its uncanny power to vanish into darkness become your personal stealth mode.
Desmodus has blood thinner in its saliva, which drains prey of more blood than this vampire could ever digest. If you can stomach the excess blood and drained meat your vampire pet leaves behind, you might be open-minded enough to appreciate another of its unholy gifts: a 'sanguine elixir' that helps enthrall the most stubborn beasts.
Desmodus will land on ARK with the upcoming free DLC map, Fjordur!
There is an ARK: EVO Event active on all platforms from now through February 7th, with the following EVO perks:
*Note that these bonuses are multiplicative of the game's standard 1x rates.

Season 5: Schism is finally here, including our newest Flank Champion:
Introducing, VII, Right Hand of the Outer Tribunal!
Since the very beginning, the Realm has been in peril. Be it calamitous threats rivaling the Scourges of old, or the unbridled ambitions of evil men, fate has always conspired against Realmkind.
It was in defiance of this injustice that the Outer Tribunal was formed. But for true justice to prevail, the order would need more than pious Judges. They'd need an Executioner. Someone unburdened by the trappings of mercy who would ensure that judgements cast were judgements kept.
VII is one whose past is chronicled upon the gravestones of the wicked. He is the grim reaper; a collector of tithes made in guilty blood. Like a phantom, he undertakes missions that would break most men, employing ruthless force and deadly precision. But then again, who's to say he is even a man?
In addition to VII, Paladins is welcoming our Abyss Hunter Academy Event Pass featuring Maeve and Rei!
Become top of the class with our latest Event Pass – Abyss Hunter Academy! Instantly unlock the Schoolyard Maeve skin for purchasing, and unlock a total of 24 levels of rewards as you play!
Players can also purchase a Buy All option to get all content in the Abyss Hunter Academy Event Pass instantly!

The team at Evil Mojo thanks you all for your feedback from our Public Test Servers on the upcoming Siege: Beyond mode! From all of the feedback and the team wanting to shape this as best for the players as possible, we are going to be delaying the release of Siege: Beyond.
The team is hard at work iterating on and making adjustments to this mode for release in the first hotfix for our Season 5: Schism update no later than February 16th. We would like to encourage you to keep submitting feedback when this hotfix goes live through the specific channel dedicated to this mode in our Official Discord[discord.gg].
This mode will be shaped by Community feedback and will constantly change throughout the year to try new ideas as seen fit from this feedback. We hope to continue to build the ultimate Siege mode with this for you in 2022!
This past weekend we served up some 2X Champion XP to give you all a start at getting your VII to level 50 and snagging his Golden skin!
This week may be a little more quiet but we still are keepin' the ball rolling.

To celebrate the launch of Siege of the Atlas, we're hosting a Boss Kill Event where Path of Exile players can compete to kill a trio of the hardest endgame bosses in Archnemesis HC SSF mode. We have put together a prize pool that gives the winners the opportunity to collaborate with our design team to create new Unique Items and Divination cards that will be added to Path of Exile.
Prizes are awarded to the first ten players who kill all three of The Maven, The Searing Exarch and The Eater of Worlds. We have not included The Uber Elder as a mandatory boss in this set because there is a moderate RNG component in accessing that fight. Bonus prizes are also awarded to the first players to kill The Uber Elder, The Shaper and Sirus. This event runs during the Archnemesis HC SSF league, starting on January 4 (PST), until each prize has been won.
Prizes for Top Placings - PC:
1st Place: Collaborate on the design of a Unique Item that will drop from either The Searing Exarch or The Eater of Worlds, and collaborate on the design of a Divination Card.
2nd Place: Collaborate on the design of a Unique Item that will drop from The Maven, and collaborate on the design of a Divination Card.
3rd Place: Collaborate on the design of a Unique Item that will drop from either The Black Star or The Infinite Hunger, and collaborate on the design of a Divination Card.
4th-10th Place: Collaborate on the design of a Divination Card
Bonus Prizes - PC:
First Uber Elder Kill: Collaborate on the design of a Unique Item that will drop from The Uber Elder
First Shaper Kill: Collaborate on the design of a Unique Item that will drop from The Shaper
First Sirus Kill: Collaborate on the design of a Unique Item that will drop from Sirus, The Awakener
All of the above prize winners will also receive a new microtransaction, Godslayer's Pride (which we'll also be awarding to the best players of events like this in the future.)
Prizes - Console (both Xbox and Playstation have separate prize pools):
1st Place: Collaborate on the design of a Divination Card, and receive a Godslayer's Pride microtransaction.
2nd-5th Place: Receive a Godslayer's Pride microtransaction.
First Uber Elder Kill: Receive a Godslayer's Pride microtransaction.
First Shaper Kill: Receive a Godslayer's Pride microtransaction.
First Sirus Kill: Receive a Godslayer's Pride microtransaction.
Additional Rules:
A player can win both a Placing prize and one or more Bonus Prizes.
If there are operational problems with the event (like significant realm stability issues at launch), Grinding Gear Games may restart the event at any point. The way we will do this is to create a new event league and indicate that players who wish to compete in the new event must make new characters there.
Players who migrate from a private league to Archnemesis HC SSF during the event are ineligible for prizes.
Placings and prize eligibility are entirely at the discretion of Grinding Gear Games.
The prizes that consist of collaborating on the design of a Divination Card or Unique Item do not guarantee that the item will turn out exactly how you want. The design team will try to accommodate your suggestions as best as they can, but the final design is at their discretion. Because these Unique Items are likely to become chase content, it's critical that they fit the overall design vision of Path of Exile.
While the event being SSF reduces a lot of scope for outside help, any form of account sharing (or other breaches of the Terms of Use) will disqualify a player from receiving prizes.
Grinding Gear Games Employees (past or present) are not eligible for prizes.
Players who have played on the Alpha realm since January 27, 2022 (when the expansion was first deployed) are not eligible for prizes.
Dying or migrating your character out of the league doesn't remove prize eligibility as long as the kill occurred while in the league.
